Our Story
Emma Ellison-Watson founded EWColour after noticing how many people felt uncertain about choosing colours for themselves or their interiors, and lacked confidence in how to put combinations and palettes together that resonate and feel aligned.
She wanted to change that.
Based in Cambridge and working with clients across Waikato and Auckland with Colour Consultancy for Interiors Emma has supported professionals, entrepreneurs, and individuals and now brings Personal Colour Analysis to those who want to feel more confident and aligned in their wardrobe as well.
Colour has the ability to transform a space or a person. It is deeply personal. What is a favourite colour for one person can stir the opposite emotions in another. The power of colour has always fascinated Emma - the way a colour can affect our energy levels and productivity, our appetite and our comfort level. New colour combinations can look fresh and inspiring while others can look dated. It can influence our mood or lift our features even alter the way others perceive us. It’s a small detail that makes a big difference. The physics, science and psychology behind how we see colour tells us that colour so much more than a decorative element.
By understanding undertones, and the reflective quality of colour, tonality, the clarity or Chroma of colour and how it interacts with the environment or a person’s natural features, Emma helps clients discover Interior palettes that are aligned with her client or their brand. And now with Personal Colour Analysis Emma brings to light which one of the 12 Color Me Beautiful (CMB) Colour Types they suit, empowering her clients with knowledge and tools that have the power to transform their entire image and how they present in their world.
Emma’s Recent Colour Journey
Despite working closely with Colour in Design Workrooms, Styling and with Interiors Spaces for over 20years Emma noticed her own personal relationship with colour was changing. What looked good on her in her earlier years had started looking dull, her palette was changing and the colours she used to look vibrant in were changing too.
This shift is what brought her to seek training with Trudy Van Zyl in the Color Me Beautiful NZ (CMB) System. Personal Colour Analysis has greatly evolved since Emma last looked at it in her teens! The CMB system is extremely thorough and answered many of Emma’s questions, which was exactly what she was looking for.
As Emma embarked on her own transformation learning her palette is now much lighter and clearer than she had been used too. This incredibly transformative and challenging experience has empowered Emma who now wants to empower others with the tools and knowledge too, through EWColour.
“Progress requires unlearning. Becoming the best version of yourself requires you to continuously edit your beliefs and to upgrade and expand your identity.” – James Clear, Atomic Habits.
